Scorched Bushveld part 1

The Scorched Bushveld series was inspired by a scene I had witnessed while hiking in the African bushveld; I came across a large area completely blackened by veld fire, and amongst the soot and ashes were the remains of trees which bared the patterns and texture of years of growth, now frozen in a charred state. The trees are cut into different image planes, where the fragmentation is symbolic of the interruption and rearrangement of nature into a geometric unnatural pattern.

The Scorched Bushveld series was drawn using Ballograf ballpoint ink and Fabriano Artistico ph-neutral archival paper.
